(Richard Warren Field wrote the award-winning novel,
The Swords of Faith. Read why this book will make a great movie.)

For all who watched the “Pillars of the Earth” mini-series on Starz during late July and August, including the many who came to my blog for my comments comparing the book to the mini-series, you can now purchase the DVD and watch “Pillars of the Earth” whenever you want. This is the mini-series based on one of the best-selling historical fiction novels of all time. It is the story of the construction of the fictional Kingsbridge Cathedral, wrapped around the succession controversy involving the grandchildren of William the Conqueror and Richard the Lionheart’s grandmother and father. It’s Steven versus Maude for the throne, as well as pious prior Philip versus less-than-pious Waleran Bigod, Jack versus Alfred, Ellen versus the established church and spurned William of Hamleigh versus the beautiful Aliena and anyone else willing to stand up to him—good, historical epic fun. I welcome buyers of the DVD to my blog (the sidebar to the right lists posts for the episodes as presented by Starz) for comments that I hope will enrich your entertainment experience.

I don’t know. Ken Follett has a new epic scope novel out now, FALL OF GIANTS, part of a trilogy, set during the early 20th Century.
